You Grew the Tree
Written by: Bobby and Kristen Gilles
c. 2012
Verse 1
You spoke into the void,
Created every star.
You made the earth and everything
That sin would one day mar
And then, Lord, by Your Word
Appeared each form of life;
And in Your image Adam came
And from him came a wife.
Pre-Chorus 1
But even then You knew
The curse our pride would bring.
The only way to save mankind—
You’d die ...
Chorus:
You grew the tree. You grew the tree.
You knew what we’d do,
but still You grew the tree.
Verse 2
You gave the sun and rain
To grow the fated wood.
You could have ripped it from the ground;
Year after year it stood.
And then rebellious men
Made of it a cross,
Planning bloody wickedness
In place of nature’s loss.
Pre-Chorus 2
You knew what to expect,
The untold misery.
I’m face-down at the thought
That after all …
(Chorus)

Bold Before God's Throne

Bold Before God’s Throne
Written by: Bobby and Kristen Gilles
CCLI # 6227494
Verse 1
A temple for almighty God,
A throne room deep inside,
A veil to shield the holy room
From sinners such as I.
A priest would part the inner veil
And enter once a year
To sacrifice for sins of those
Who never could draw near.
Verse 2
The day they crucified the Lord
The earth began to quake.
The veil inside the temple fell
And mercy made a way.
No longer would we need a priest
To pay for all our sin;
No veil can separate us now
So boldly we go in.
Chorus:
Bold before God’s throne, yet unworthy to be there;
Resting on Christ’s sacrifice – it is my only prayer.
Verse 3
Confident before the throne,
Though humbled all the more
Because the sacrifice of Christ
Became our open door.
O love of Christ, forever true,
Cursed so I’d be blessed.
And by your light, compared to You
I see my wickedness.
Verse 4
My base desires and carnal thoughts
Are enemies of Christ.
I stand condemned by my own heart,
Deserving just to die;
Yet still I do not hesitate
To stand before the king,
A paradox to all but God
Who gave his Son for me.
(Chorus)

Rising Tide

The Rising Tide
Written by: Bobby and Kristen Gilles
2012
Verse 1
The rising tide, the Spirit’s call
The power of the perfect King
Sweeps through the earth, subdues the strong
Erases death’s cold, mocking sting
God entered Time, came as a babe
Became a man, cast Satan down
Watched as he fell like lightning
From the heavens to the ground
Verse 2
What Satan thought was victory
Became the means of his defeat
The Lord, on cruel Calvary
Crushed Satan’s head beneath His feet
Christ conquered death and cancelled sin,
Ascended to the Father’s throne
Then sent His Spirit like the wind
To draw us in, to lead us home
Chorus
Rising tide (Rising Tide)
of righteousness (righteousness)
The Kingdom is at hand. (2x)
Verse 3
And now Hell’s stronghold on the earth
Is plundered by the risen Lord
And powerless, the demons roar
When souls are fed the Living Word
No force can stop the spreading Church.
No foe can stem the rising tide
Of those alive in Second Birth
Through Him who lives, though crucified
Repeat Chorus
Verse 4
Still rising tide, still flowing free
Bursts the dam the devil raised
And surging on to victory
Christ the champion be praised.
When trumpet sounds, he’ll bring his church
Stamp out each desperate trace of sin.
And love will cover all the earth
In the Kingdom without end.
Repeat Chorus

My Song In The Night

My Song In The Night
Written by Bobby & Kristen Gilles
Inspired by the anonymous American Southern Folk Hymn of the same title
Verse 1
O Jesus my Savior, my song in the night,
The rest for my soul, the strength for my fight.
To You, O Lord, in affliction I call,
By day my comfort; by night my song.
Verse 2
O Jesus my Savior, my song in the night,
A servant by choice, but a king by all rights.
In Your darkest hour, I could not stay awake,
But still you pressed on to the cross for my sake.
CHORUS
You sang no song in Gethsemane,
But cried “My God, take this cup from me!”
Yet for sinners’ sake, You gave up your rights
And died for all wrongs – My song in the night.
Verse 3
O why should I wander away from Your care?
Or fear for my future? You’ve made me an heir;
Adopted by God to the Kingdom of Light
You conquered the darkness, my song in the night.
(To Chorus)
